Coach Lance Pickeral
I am from the Piedmont Triad area, attended Glenn High School, and graduated from Gospel Light Christian School. During my time in high school I was a three sport athlete concentrating in my senior year on varsity baseball and basketball. Upon graduation, I decided to further my academics as well as my athletics at Greensboro College. There, I participated in baseball and majored in Physical Education. In 2010 I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education/Teacher Licensure.
Coaching and sport and health education had become a passion; therefore I decided to further my education by attending graduate school at The Canisius College of Buffalo. In 2012 I obtained my Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Physical Education. During my time in grad school my research project consisted of “The Dynamics of Team Building within a Physical Education Classroom.” I feel this topic enlightened my expertise in coaching as well as teaching.
My philosophy in coaching and teaching is to create unity among each other, concentrate on the fundamentals of a sport, and everything else will follow. It is my goal as a leader of a team to instill a drive, passion, and desire to be the best athlete an individual can be.
During my career I have had the opportunity to coach a variety of Sports within the Winston Salem/Forsyth county public schools as well as Davidson County Public Schools. I have been a Head basketball coach for five years, beginning during the 2010-2011 season at Paisley Magnet School and ending in 2014-2015 season at North Davidson Middle School. In 2015 with great honor and privilege I accepted the position of Instructor/Program Coordinator of Health and Physical Education at Greensboro College however I still continued to have a desire to coach along with teaching. I am now proud and honored beginning Summer of 2016 to accept the Head Women’s Volleyball and Head Women’s Basketball coaching position at Piedmont International University.
