Dr. Rob Decker
Bible & Counseling
Born in 1961, I was raised in a Christian home in Pennsylvania. I encountered and received Jesus at the age of 13. One summer I was working at a Christian camp as a maintainance helper. During the course of the summer the camp had a need to use me as a young counselor over 8 year old boys. They trained me to lead 8 year olds to Christ and I realized that I had never recieved Christ as my personal Saviour. I then accepted Christ and soon enjoyed the opportunity to lead young boys to Christ. The experience inflamed my passion to know Christ and serve him.
At the age of 18 I was on my way to Embry Riddle Aeronautical University when my Dad asked me to consider going to a Bible College for one year before leaving for the University. I told him that I would if the Bible College had an aviation program. My uncle had a friend from Willingboro, N.J. who just took over as President of Piedmont and recommended I go there. And the rest is history! I enrolled past the first year and completed my aviation training at Piedmont; however, during that training God got a hold of my heart through chapel messages and professors in the classroom and I surrendered to full-time Christian service. I completed a Bachelor of Theology with an aviation minor, but I am most grateful for meeting the love of my life at the school, Bettina who I married in 1984 after my schooling.
Due to the aviation course load and the fewer bible class requirements, I believed it wise and the will of God for my life to pursue further theological training. I attended Grace Theological Seminary at the advice of Dr. Hoyle Bowman where I received my Master of Divinity degree in 1987. In 1990 I went on to pursue a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from Colorado Christian University and in 2003 I completed a Doctorate of Ministry degree from Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, N.C..
Currently I serve at Triad Baptist Church in Kernersville, N.C. where I have pastored since August of 1998. I have enjoyed a wonderful ministry and opportunity for impacting many lives for eternity. My wife and I have now been married for 24 years and we have four children. Alison our oldest is now married to Mr. Matt Smith. Zachary is a graduate of Piedmont and Nicholas is currently enrolled. Austin attends Gospel Light Christian School in the area.
