Church Education

The Church Education minor assists individuals in formulating a biblical philosophy of both individual and corporate discipleship. This minor also prepares participants for various ministries in Christian education and discipleship through a variety of learning opportunities. The Church Education minor emphasizes the history of Christian education, its philosophical and methodological development as a local-church discipline, as well as various biblical programmatic solutions to traditional and contemporary age-based needs in the area of discipleship.

Objectives:
  • Articulate a biblical philosophy, including basic objectives, of discipleship
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the history of Christian Education and its implications on the current state of this field of ministry
  • Describe characteristics, strengths, and shortcomings of various traditional and contemporary models of church education
  • Effectively develop and implement an appropriate church educational ministry for a local church setting
