Barbara Morter | Wife of Former SBBC President Ted Morter

Barbara Morter

PIU is praying for President Ted Morter in the home going of his faithful, supportive wife, Barbara. Barbara is remembered for her love for Spurgeon Baptist Bible College students and faculty and her years of ministry.

Mrs. Barbara Elnora (Mohan) Morter, age 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, February 24, 2018. Barbara was born on January 19, 1934 in Cambria, Illinois to Willard Cunningham and Irene (Plumlee) Mohan. On June 22, 1957, she married Theodore (Ted) M. Morter. She earned her B.R.E. from Baptist Bible College in Johnson City, NY and a B.A. and a M.A. in education from Eastern Michigan University. Barbara and Ted started their family in Flint, MI and then moved to Grand Blanc, MI a few years later. Barbara was a beloved elementary teacher in the Grand Blanc Public Schools for 32 years. Barbara played the organ for over 70 years in multiple churches and ministries, blessing countless people with her artful and heartfelt music. After retirement, Barbara and Ted divided their time between homes in Eckerman, MI and Winter Haven, FL where they developed many close friendships. Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Mohan; her father, Willard Mohan; her brother, Hugh Mohan and her son, Mark B. Morter. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Ted Morter; her son Scott D. Morter and her daughter-in-law, Barbara Buist; her daughter-in-law, Loretta Morter; her grandchildren Angela (Morter) and Tom Cizauskas, Scott II and Kristin Morter, Michael and Ali Morter, Ryan and Alyssa Morter, Holden and Emily Morter, Cooper Morter; 11 great-grandchildren; her sisters Carolyn (Mohan) Kelly and Shirley (Mohan) Hart; her sister-in-law, Sandy Kuhn; her sister- and brother-in-law Ruth (Morter) and Dr. I.
