Bereavement

Arrell and RosaLee Moore

Beth Ashburn

The entire Piedmont family mourns the sudden passing of Arrell and Rosa Lee Moore, who died hours apart after a tragic accident that occurred while driving to a Sunday school outing in Stokes County from their Winston-Salem home Friday, August 10, around 4 p.m.

The Moores have served the Lord in three churches: Salem Baptist Church (NC), First Baptist Church (CA), and Calvary Baptist Church (NC). Arrell has been a deacon, trustee, and board chairman for two Christian Camps and has faithfully served on the Piedmont International University Trustee Board for multiple terms since the 1970s.

The Moores were PIU alumni.  Arrell, who was 82, graduated in 1958; and his sweetheart, who was 81, graduated in 1959.  Arrell once commented in a letter to PIU: “We love Piedmont. This school has had a special place in our hearts since we were students." Out of appreciation for their generous contributions toward enhanced innovation and broader influence, the Trustees of Piedmont International University renamed the School of Education in their honor on August 4, 2014.

The Moore family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations could be made to PIU in memory of them.

Our passion is to graduate men and women who are thoroughly equipped to be successful leaders who obey the Great Commandment, fulfill the Great Commission, and live abundant lives for the glory of God.
