Danny Acosta

Assistant Baseball Coach


Piedmont is extremely happy to have Danny Acosta join our baseball program!

Acosta has been involved in college and professional baseball for many years. Before coming to the United States, Danny played Class AA in Vega Baja, and San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. After a distinguished and outstanding career, Danny began coaching youth in the community. In 1993, he started coaching a Class A team in Florida, Puerto Rico.

He brings a tremendous amount of baseball experience along with a strong work ethic to the PIU Bruins. His sport psychology background will impact our student-athletes to do their best in a caring environment.

Acosta also served as admissions and international student adviser for student-athletes from Venezuela, Colombia, Japan, China, Australia, and many other countries around the world. With this strong background he will impact our baseball program immediately.

During the decade of the 90’s he started his college recruiting business that has been evolving through the years to ad other services that will help student-athletes achieve their dreams of playing college sports.

He has trained, worked with, and coached several former and current Major League Baseball players and has been and Associate Scout for the Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners, Minnesota Twins, and the San Francisco Giants. He also worked with the Chicago Cubs Class A Affiliate team in Daytona Beach, Florida for 3 years.

In 1995, he was hired as an associate scout for the Texas Rangers. In 1997, he took a job as a pitching coach with an AA team in Florida, Puerto Rico in which he finished the season as the Manager. Also from 1997 through 1998 he worked as an associate scout with the Mariners. From 1995-2000, he was also running his own training club in which he provided strength and conditioning to many professional baseball players.

Coach Acosta led the Iowa Lakes Legion Baseball Team to a Regional Championship in 2008 and in 2010 he coached the Arizona Bandits of the Arizona Collegiate League where he led the team to the Championship game.

Recently he was involved with travel baseball in the summer with the ECBA Bombers and in the fall with the Charleston Rawlings Star Prospects.

Currently Acosta continues recruiting and working on Sport Psychology where the focus is Performance Enhancement for the high-level athlete as well as amateur and college. Also, working with his travel baseball program CSB Elite Travel Baseball.
