Murray Ruggiero

Assistant Baseball Coach


Coach Ruggiero is excited to join the Piedmont baseball coaching staff after finishing his college baseball career at Central Penn College. He graduated with a 3.9 GPA and was named a USCAA conference All-Academic team member his sophomore, junior and senior years. Ruggiero has pitched, played all three outfield positions and 1st base at the college level. He also played in the Mountain West Summer Collegiate baseball league as an outfielder and pitcher. Coach Ruggiero has been over a .300 hitter his last three seasons at the college level and his freshman year as a pitcher he sported a 4.14 ERA.

Coach Ruggiero was looked at to play professional baseball overseas but coaching has always been his passion. Ruggiero has been coaching for the last five years from little league all the way up to the college level. Coach Ruggiero already has a great start to his coaching resume even with just graduating college. He has been a head coach of an 18U travel baseball team called the CT Power. He owns a business called The Baseball Dream, this business helps high school players find college baseball teams. His latest coaching job, and first coaching at the college level is in the Tidewater Summer Baseball League for the Tidewater Hawks.

He will be the assistant coach of the team starting in June for the summer. The Tidewater Summer League has had over 25+ Major League Baseball Alumni. Most notable players are Michael Cuddyer, Ryan Zimmerman, Mark Reynolds and Melvin "BJ" Upton.
